This Regulation aims at establishing rights and obligations for rail service users. It creates new rights in relation to information for passengers; compensation for lost or damaged luggage; compensation for death or injury; compensation for delays and cancellations; and extra protection for disabled passengers.
Regulation (EU) No 1177/2010 on the Rights of Passengers Travelling by Sea or Inland Waterway
This regulation applies to passengers travelling on passenger services either departing from or arriving in a port within the European Union (EU), and on cruises where the port of embarkation is in the EU. Amongst other things it provides for rights for disabled persons; assistance; rerouting or reimbursement; compensation for delay; complaint handling; and the establishment of independent national bodies to enforce the regulation.
Regulation (EU) No 181/2011 Concerning the Rights of Passengers in Bus and Coach Transport
This regulation applies to passengers travelling on bus and coach journeys over 250kms within the EU. Amongst other things it provides for: assistance; reimbursement or rerouting; compensation for cancellation or delay; provision of information; compensation for death or injury; assistance for disabled passengers; and non-discrimination.
